Our 2007 RAGBRAI photos.

Arrived in Rock Rapids Iowa on Saturday July 21 for the bike expo, and to explore the town. We set up camp in the Lyon County Fairgrounds. One of the things we liked about the town was all the murals on the buildings. That evening we dipped our rear wheels in the Rock River for the start of the ride.

Sunday July 22, we biked from Rock Rapids to Spencer, 75.7 miles and an elevation climb of 1586 feet. Although the day was flat, we faced some good head winds for most of the day. It was really fun to be biking that first day.

Monday July 23 was the longest day from Spencer to Humboldt. Again it was a flat day of riding, 77.4 miles and only 1433 feet of climb. Winds were gusting higher that day up to 21 mph. Although the recorded temp for the day was in the 70's, our bike computers reached their highest at 102! Unfortunately, due to the heat and a bad burger the day before I was unable to bike the whole way. In Bradgate (16.2 miles from the end) Kurt and I got on the SAG wagon (RAGBRAI's vans that pick up bikers unable to continue - for whatever reason).

On Tuesday July 24, Kurt and I decided to take the day off. Unfortunately, according to the other riders that was a great day for bike riding. But we enjoyed the day at Hampton anyways. And we were able to bike for the rest of the trip without problems.

On Wednesday, July 25 we biked from Hampton to Cedar Falls. 68.2 miles and 2009 feet climb. Mostly tailwinds on this day, and fairly cool. We had gotten started early in the morning (just before 6am) and arrived in Cedar Falls around 2 pm, taking our time to visit several of the pass through towns. Breakfast was in Aredale, where the fire department was hosting a pancake, eggs, and sausage breakfast. We had a long lunch at Stout - eating some great brats and lots of delicious watermelon.

Thursday was Ceder Falls to Independence, 62.9 miles, and 1499 feet climb. This was another day with a lot of headwinds, though cooler. Again we got off early in the morning and stopped for breakfast in Denver, the mile wide city:) We also stopped at Dunkerton and Fairbank, so we must have really gone fast between the towns. (And this included a stop to eat some great homemade pie and cookies.) We arrived in Independence before 1pm. We had some great ham balls and pie for lunch at the Hope Wesleyan Church before finding where Bryan had set up the camper. We had another great dinner at the Immanuel Lutheran Church after cleaning up and resting. We explored Independence, walked along their river, and found the Iowa Telecom trailer so we could check how the Nashua Pride was doing, and send a few emails. Walking back to our camper, we found some homemade icecream. Complete with the perfect Icecream makers -- John Deere.

Friday we biked from Independence to Dyersville. The planned route was 64.7 miles, but they changed it some around Dundee. The new route was 63.2 miles and 2388 feet climb. Hardly any winds at all that day, but the hills were getting steeper. In Dyersville, we visited the Field Of Dreams movie site.

Saturday July 28, was the last day. We biked to Bellevue Iowa on the Mississippi River, 56.6 miles and 3172 feet of climb. Which is pretty good considering you end the day over 300 feet lower. We had some really good sweet corn in La Motte for lunch, before doing the final push to Belleview. In Belleview we found Bryan, and reached the river to dip our front wheels in.
